Bio
After preparing a massive arsenal of puns in preparation for a ten year tour of stand-up punning in pun-friendly venues worldwide, Daybloom packed a van and set out, only to get a flat tire in the driveway. Plans dashed and bored, they started playing music.
It all started in 2009 with the song, The Featherheart. Vocalist Kathleen MacIntyre-Ross’s haunting, melodious contralto lent a satisfying depth to the ponderous, mid-paced 6/4 folk song. Both she and guitarist Michael Lejeune could see the potential was obvious from the beginning, and the dream started to take shape.
The addition of Frank Schoonbeck to the lineup was essential. His intuitive ability with melody and feel made his contribution to the songs immediately satisfying, and solidified the ensemble feel. Throughout the band’s career, MacIntyre-Ross, Schoonbeck, and Lejeune would form the creative core of the project.
Multi-instrumentalist Marnen Laibow-Koser (ex-Blackmore’s Night) added a virtuosic flair and sophistication to the ensemble’s sound that heightened its already highly accessible presentation.
